History and successes

Youth Arts has a proven track record for its professionalism and consistency of delivery to young people who take part in projects.

The range of work has been broad and within each year there have been some benchmark occasions. For example in 2000, as a Millennium Project, a new writer created a script for 60 young people, aged 17 plus, who were drawn from France, Germany and Leicestershire. After an intensive residential rehearsal period the production was seen in Loughborough, Schwabisch Hall and Salon en Provence.

For many years, Youth Arts have taken part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for two weeks in the summer. At least 80 young people of 16 plus years together with a trained technical team, all from Leicestershire, have taken part in six different performance groups and won praise from the Times Educational Supplement and The Scotsman.

Tours, links with Twinned Towns and Exchanges have been part of the work that has brought together young people from very different academic and social groups.

Working on shared endeavours, helping, teaching and learning from each other and their tutors, young people have strived to achieve the best possible standard and a high level of professionalism.
