Our mission statement

The performing arts should not be seen as ‘magic’. Coping with the personal, social and skill based pressures that are involved isn’t easy. Performing demands that people spend time, that detail is taken on board and that, as in life, you have to cope with new barriers and overcome them. For these reasons Youth Arts values continuity and progression.

As an organisation, Youth Arts is pleased when young people find success and achievement in an arts career but sets its core intention as a daily engagement with the social art form of performing because the outcome produces the transferable skills that are so useful whatever career a young person chooses.

For us, drama work is one route for individuals to unlock the gate into core skills and the desire to learn, contribute, and to be part of something larger than themselves; a route for personal achievement.
